Guest post: Marghanita and Toffee

by melynda Email

Yeah! It's Guest Post Monday! (That's what I am calling it now.) One of the many lovely folks I've met on Twitter is Marghanita. Marghanita Hughes is a children’s book author, illustrator and the creator of the award winning Little Humbugs. She is passionate about encouraging our children’s interest in the guardianship of The Earth we share. She strongly believes that children can influence change. Her Mission is to deliver this positive message to them through the delightful characters in her enchanting stories.

If you visit her blog you will be delighted by her photography. Through her photos and illustrations she really does capture the magic of the natural world.

Follow up:

For me, being outdoors is the most natural thing in the world. When I was a child, my parents would trek my 3 brothers and I up the local Pentland Hills or visit the reservoir, go rock hunting on deserted beaches or go camping up in the Highlands.

These magical childhood experiences are embedded in my memory, driving me to share the same magical adventures with my own children and in doing so –fueling my creativity.

Inspired by my surroundings, the Highland cows that grazed at the bottom of our garden became my bedtime story entertainment for my three little ones....then one day,(back in 2003) I started to draw the little calf and before I knew what was happening, Toffee the Highland Cow came to life on paper.
My journey had begun as a children’s author and illustrator.

Toffee’s adventures are based on all my wonderful family adventures, for instance- Toffee Goes Camping was written after returning from a magical camping trip in Loch Morlich.

I am passionate about nature and want to share my passion with the help from my little book characters-(Toffee the Highland Cow and my latest book characters - the Little Humbugs) hoping to inspire children to go outside and discover the MAGIC mother nature has to offer.

Here’s a few of Toffee’s favourite outdoor activities that I know you’ll love doing.

Toffee’s Top 10 Favourite Outdoor Activities
