Painting in the rain...
…just painting in the rain. What a glorious feeling, I’m happy again.
Trail report
There are two ways to play this game: painting with the rain or painting in the rain. You choose. Or, go a little wild and try both. I dare you.
Making tracks
Sometimes wildlife can be hard to find. You’re out wandering around in the woods, yelling “here wildlife, here wildlife” and nothing comes. What’s a nature lover to do? Look for signs of wildlife.
Keep your eyes peeled to the ground (while simultaneously being aware of your surroundings) and search for animal tracks. I’ve written about tracks here if you need a refresher.
Ice sculptures
I just can't get enough of playing with ice. It's such a fun medium. You can slide on it, crack it, see through it and use it to stir your hot cocoa.
Trail report
You don’t need a chain saw or an art degree to sculpt with ice.
In your pack
• rock salt
• spoon
• ice
Sand snakes
Just in case you aren't covered in snow right now, I've posted a special activity just for you.
Trail report
Create your own wildlife at the beach or a park by making sand snakes or worms.
5 more ways for kids to have fun with ice
Here is another one from last winter, but since it goes with Monday's post, I pretty much had to re-post it, right?
In my last post I listed 5 ways for kids to have fun with ice. Here are a few more.
5 ways for kids to have fun with ice
This is something I posted last winter, but I think it has a lot of good ideas, so I bring it to your attention again.
Since the local lagoon is frozen and icicles are hanging from my roof, I thought I'd suggest some games that involve ice.
Ice or snow + food coloring = fun and beauty
I don't know about you, but I've been having a hard time keeping up with the ol' blog lately. There are just too many fun things going on.
We've made gingerbread houses and taken a ride on the Polar Express. We've counted stars and attended parties. This year we have a different "Advent Adventure" every day. (Yes, I add the word "adventure" to make is seem more exciting. My kids are little, they buy into that sort of thing. I get away with what I can.)
